Ram 5500 Locking Fuel Door
Ram 5500 chassis cabs show up under Type I ambulance modules, command bodies and tactical response trucks. Tank configuration drives how many doors a given rig needs.
Why It Happens
One tank or two changes the order
Our fitment notes for this chassis distinguish single-tank builds, which take one small door, from dual-tank builds, which take two.
Upfitted bodies leave the fill exposed
The body goes on behind the cab and the factory plastic fuel door stays exactly as delivered — unlocked.
Fleet keying matters at scale
Agencies running mixed Ford and Ram platforms can key every door alike so crews are not carrying platform-specific keys.

Common Questions
How do I tell if my rig has two tanks?
Walk both sides of the truck and count the fuel fills. Two fills means two doors. Our fitment notes flag the dual-tank configuration explicitly.
Do Ram 3500 and 4500 chassis cabs fit?
Those chassis are in our vehicle records but do not currently carry verified door fitment. Send measurements and we will confirm rather than guess.
Is there a DEF door?
If your build has a separate DEF fill, it needs its own door. Include that in your quote request.
