Locking Fuel Doors for Fire Apparatus

Apparatus sit outside stations, at scenes and in staging areas with an unlocked plastic panel between a thief and the fuel tank. The First Responder Fuel Vault replaces that panel with a keyed steel door that mounts into the existing chassis cutout.

Why It Happens

The factory door is not a lock

On every chassis we work with, the OEM fuel door is a non-locking painted plastic panel. It hides the fill; it does not secure it.

Apparatus are parked in the open

Station aprons, mutual-aid staging and long incident scenes all leave a rig unattended for hours with the fill accessible from the ground.

A dry tank is an out-of-service rig

Stolen or contaminated fuel does not just cost money — it takes an engine out of the run order until it is drained, refilled and cleared.

What You Get

  • Keyed locking door in a black finish that matches apparatus trim
  • Mounts into the existing factory fuel door cutout — no body modification
  • Verified fitment records on Ford Super Duty chassis cab, F-550, F-600 and F-53 platforms
  • Security screw packs available so the door cannot simply be unbolted
  • Fleet pricing for departments ordering multiple rigs

Common Questions

Will it fit a custom-built apparatus body?

Fitment is set by the chassis fuel door cutout, not the body builder, so a custom body on a supported chassis normally fits. If your chassis is not in our verified records, send measurements and photos and we will confirm before you order.

How many doors does one rig need?

One per fill. Rigs with two diesel fills, or a diesel fill plus a DEF fill, need a door for each. Our fitment notes list door counts per configuration.

Can the whole fleet share one key?

Yes — ask for keyed-alike when you request your quote so one key opens every door in the fleet.
